Agneepath beats Ra.One, Bodyguard at Indian Box Office
Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra-Sanjay Dutt starrerAgneepath has set the Indian Box Office on fire with its’ record breaking collections on the opening day of its’ release. Going by the statistics, it is quite possible that Karan Johar’s remake film, directed by Karan Malhotra becomes the biggest blockbuster of India in the year 2012.
Bollywood movie Agneepath set a record on the first day (Thursday) by grossing Rs 23 crore net at the Indian Box Office. With this Agneepath has not only broken the opening day box office record of Shahrukh Khan’s Ra.One, but has also managed to beat Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, which has so far been the biggest box office Bollywood opener in recent years.
Shahrukh’s Ra.One had garnered Rs 18.5 crore at the box office on the opening day. This includes the Hindi and South Indian versions as well. However,Ra.One failed to surpass Salman’s Bodyguard as the Salman-Kareena film fetched Rs 21.5 crore at the Indian Box Office on the first day.
According to trade analysts and Box Office gurus, though Agneepath’s collections is likely to drop on Friday since it’s a working day, the film should rake in Rs 20 crore each day on Saturday and Sunday.
In most probabilities, Agneepath’s first weekend collections should exceed Rs 75 crore net at the Box Office. Bodyguard had grossed Rs 85.50 crore net in the five day weekend.
If we were to go by the record, Agneepath is a sure winner at the box office and will give Ra.One and even Bodyguard a run for money!

When he first entered Bollywood, he wooed fans all over the globe. With the looks of a Greek God, Hrithik Roshan climbed to instant success with his debut film, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. This was followed by a series of flops and averages at the box office to the extent that he had bagged himself the title of ‘One time Wonder boy’ from critics and film magazines. But Roshan soon showed what he was made off as he came forward with a brilliant performance of a retarded boy in his movie, Koi Mil Gaya. Koi Mil Gaya went on to be the year’s biggest hit andIndia’s first science fiction, children’s movie. The box office blockbuster had a sequel to it as well called Krish which gaveIndia, it’s first own superhero. He gave a fantabulous performance in Dhoom 2 as the uber cool thief and went on to bag a Filmfare Award for best Actor for his role. Critics have always thought ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ was his best performance till date especially because of regality with which Hrithik pulled off Akbar’s character and his perfect chemistry with his co-actor Aishwarya Rai(now Bachchan) was commendable.
Hrithik accepts that all those years when he was delivering flops, he learned a lot more about Bollywood and acting, than he ever did when he was succeeding at everything. His roles in Fiza, Mission Kashmir taught him the mere basics of how much emotions and feelings go into making a character and his pain look realistic on screen. Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was a big learning step for Hrithik as he worked with two of Bollywood’s most talented actors, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan which gave him an ideal opportunity to learn most he can from his superiors. The critics loved him in Lakshya which established him as realistic actor more than a good looking one with awesome dance moves and great physique. Bhansali’s Guzaarish gave him the opportunity to show to his audiences the best of his acting, quadriplegic patient Ethan Mascarenhas demanding euthanasia for himself. Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara brought out the intensity in his acting which gave his character immense depth. Hrithik is a fantastic dancer and recently judged the dance reality show, Just Dance with choreographers, Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant. His musch awaited movie Agneepath is all set to release soon with him recreating Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic role of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan.
Hrithik belongs to one of the most celebrated Bollywood families. His father is film director, producer and actor, Rakesh Roshan and his uncle, Rajesh Roshan is a music director. He marries actor Sanjay Khan’s beautiful daughter, Susanne Roshan and now the couple are blessed with two lovely baby boys, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. He turns 38 and is surely looking forward to decorating his career with many more accolades to come. Here’s wishing him a very Happy Birthday from everyone at Bollygraph.
